Beech Creek, PA - A former Lock Haven firefighter has been arrested in connection with a July 2025 fire at the Merryvale Apartments in Beech Creek.

According to investigators, 32-year-old Matthew Hahn, of Lock Haven, is facing multiple charges, including arson and reckless burning. Authorities determined the fire, which originated in a laundry building, had been intentionally set after examining its origin and spread.

Police said Hahn, who was a member of the Lock Haven Fire Department at the time, was the person who called 911 to report the early-morning fire. Investigators later said portions of Hahn’s account were inconsistent with evidence collected during the investigation, including information obtained through interviews and a search warrant for his cellphone.

Hahn is currently being held in the Clinton County Correctional Facility after being unable to post $75,000 bail.

All charges are allegations, and Hahn is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
