The Lock Haven Fire Department (LHFD) is warning parents, caregivers, and community members about a dangerous social media trend involving so-called “fire challenges.”

These challenges involve individuals intentionally igniting flammable liquids on surfaces or clothing and attempting to extinguish the flames before injuries occur.

⚠️ THE DANGERS ARE REAL!

According to information shared by LHFD, incidents involving these challenges have been reported in Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and Louisiana, resulting in serious burns and, in some cases, victims requiring ventilator support.

Flammable liquids are extremely unpredictable, and flames can spread rapidly, causing life-threatening injuries.
